Special Fabtech – Crippa

Crippa has further expanded its organization at Crippa USA to strengthen its presence in the United States. With this purpose, we have engaged a new division manager, Giacomo Gouery, an accomplished, senior-level Sales Manager with a broad scope of experience, who is now Chief Operating Officer for the American Subsidiary of Crippa. At Fabtech in Atlanta we will be showing some of our latest technical solutions: 942XE, SMALL2E and the end forming machine S08/4. But one of the highlights for this edition will be the brand new  bending machine CLEVER that introduces a full electric model for steel tubes up to Dia. 25 mm in Crippa’s catalogue. Clever is based on the concept of a tilting bending head – which is single instead of dual. This makes it possible to increase the execution speed of the bending process considerably and to reduce the cycle time. CLEVER performs automatic cycles with right, left, multi-stack and multi-radius bends. Come discover CLEVER and the other news at Fabtech, CRIPPA SPA, stand C10828.

Special Fabtech – Bystronic

Bystronic acquires Italian technology company for tube and profile processing

Recently, Bystronic has significantly expanded its existing portfolio of sheet metal fabricating technologies with new solutions for automation, warehouse integration, and digital networking.

Bystronic announces the full acquisition of their strategic partner TTM Laser S.p.A., a successful Italian technology company that specializes in the development of 2D and 3D laser systems for the cutting of tubes and profiles, and for the welding of large-format metal sheets.

The development of a strategic partnership with TTM Laser in November 2017 has shown there is a strong demand for customers to be able to purchase all these solutions from a single source. The added value that is created allows customers to position themselves more successfully on the market. A supplier with a strong sales and service network not only simplifies the purchase and maintenance, but also the successful integration and operation of manufacturing solutions. With the acquisition of TTM Laser, Bystronic is deepening its existing portfolio for the laser cutting process step with applications for tubes with diameters between 1/2 inch – 32 inch, and for profiles.

Bystronic CEO Alex Waser emphasizes: “With the merger of Bystronic and TTM Laser, our customers are gaining access to a unique range of technologies and innovations for their sheet metal processing requirements. TTM Laser’s know-how and technology portfolio ideally complement Bystronic’s existing manufacturing solutions with world-class systems for tube and profile processing. The goal of this takeover is to jointly push forward innovative manufacturing solutions.”

Special Fabtech – Axxair

The orbital cutting machines from AXXAIR are equipped with a concentric clamping device

Conversely to clamping equipment using a vice, the concentric clamping is delicate and strong at the same time. This device is equipped with 3 to 16 jaws according to the diameters of the tubes that have to be cut and then welded with orbital equipment. Generally, the stainless steel tube have a thickness of maximum 3 mm. This means that in industrial sectors such as vineyards, dairy and pharmaceutical sector, as well as in the food industry, these tubes are largely represented according to the current European standards.

These tubes are particularly thin. If you use a vice, it will distort the tube. This tube cannot be repaired and becomes scrap. The orbital cutting machines from AXXAIR are distinguished by the innovative concept of concentric clamping, even permitting to repair an oval shape of a tube. .

If you use a clamping system with 4 jaws, they will be placed:

at 0°- at 90°- at 180°- and at 270.

In this way, the tube does not suffer and it will not be weakened.

Stainless steel clamping

The concentric clamping systems from AXXAIR are equipped with basic jaws. They are fixed to columns which move close to the tube and then clamp them.

Why did we choose stainless steel for the jaws? The answer is quite simple. Any other material than stainless steel would pollute the tube after a certain time of functioning. In order to guarantee a perfect protection towards these external attacks – for instance corrosion, the protection of food or any liquid routed inside the tube – only stainless steel is largely recommended, not to say mandatory.

The basic jaws equip AXXAIR orbital cutting machines. When using AXXAIR equipment, you will have no damage or loss in productivity.

Tenaris inaugurates the new TRT2, the heat treatment plant costing 30 million

The Bergamo-based company TenarisDalmine inaugurated, on Monday 3 September, the new TRT2, the heat treatment plant (that improves the mechanical characteristics) of medium and large diameter pipes. An investment of almost 30 million dollars, made in 12 months of work, which allows TenarisDalmine to treat a greater quantity of pipes, with diameters up to 711 mm in diameter and 40 mm in thickness, and to improve the quality, thanks to the new sandblasting, grinding and taping plants. The new TRT2 system, as reported on the website www.bergamonews.it, reduces energy consumption at the same time and ensures the safety of working conditions.

90 impressions that make an impression

Poppe + Potthoff celebrates nine eventful decades as a family business

A “90” made of tubular steel goes around the world – proudly presented by the em- ployees at the original plant in Werther and at the Poppe + Potthoff sites. The film created by the staff on the occasion of the company’s anniversary touches Dr. Chris- tian Potthoff-Sewing: “It’s the people that make the difference.”- “I see many faces here that have not only worked for the company, but fought for it.”, the CFO and President of the Poppe + Potthoff Group emphasizes. Courage and adaptability, appreciation and trust as well as down-to-earthness and persistence helped the family business to overcome even difficult times.

Flexible network

“Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems are important key factors to efficient customer-specific production,” says Dr. Ing. Bengt-Henning Maas, CEO of the tubing plant and Head of the Tubular Components Division. “We want to be a leader with regard to the digitalization and networking of processes in the tubing industry and other business areas.”

Family management, diversification and internationalization ensure stability and growth: as a partner to its customers, P+P is increasing its share of the value chain by expanding vertical integration and services such as the development and validation of components for demanding applications.t

Cooperation creates the future

The joint commitment of the owner family, managers and employees is paying off: in 2017, the P+P Group achieved record sales of 200 million euros. To ensure that the signs of the times are also correctly interpreted in the future, the Workers Council donated a large clock that shows the period since the company was founded. Marketing Manager Martina Engler-Smith re-enacted the company’s multi-faceted story: “90 Impressions that make an impression” is the title of the online collection of snapshots from everyday company life. They reflect a corporate culture that sustains all business areas and locations consistently and adaptably at the same time.
