Morandi Steel: strategic repositioning process. From the commercialization of steel hollow sections to the laser processing
The important investments of the last years in plants, expertise and human capital have projected the business of Morandi Steel, based in Flero, Brescia, into the future. In 2019 the company, which has been operating in the distribution of steel tubes for 50 years, profoundly renewed its offer with the integration of a range of 3D laser processing to meet the needs of customers for customization. A very important renewal, which was also reflected in the change of the Company name: from Morandi Spa to Morandi Steel Spa.
Founded in 1973 as a warehouse of iron, pipes and plates, in almost half a century of history the company Morandi has evolved many times: from the commercialization of different qualities of steel pipes, focus of the business in the Seventies and Eighties, to the distribution of structural hollow sections, up to the current integrated offer of products and services.

Thanks to the installation of a laser machine Lt 20 Jumbo Adige-Sys for laser cutting and processing, the company from Brescia widens its target with an integrated offer of personalized products and services. Revenues and profitability are improving. The new laser machine can execute laser cutting and complex processing on square, round, and rectangle hollow and open steel sections.
The new positioning – The strategic repositioning is the outcome of a process started with a market research which highlighted the absence in the industry of a player that could supply fully personalized hollow sections, integrating the advantages of a distributor with those of a processing center.
«The new positioning is the outcome of an important investment, both in term of energy and money, which started in the last two years according to the results of requests gathered among our customers: the need to have in a sole supplier a point of reference for both the distribution of hollow sections and high quality processes. Therefore we have worked with a double target: satisfy the requests of the market while aiming to the most profitable products» explains Giorgio Maschietto, General Director of Morandi Steel.
The numbers of Morandi Steel – In 2018, the revenues of Morandi Steel reached 13.5 million Euro, increasing by the 8% on the previous year, with an Ebitda lightly under 500K Euro.
